Down by the Sally Gardens, my love and I did meet.
She crossed the Sally Gardens with little snow-white feet.
She bid me take love easy, as the leaves grow on the tree,
But I was young and foolish, with her did not agree.

 

버드나무 정원을 지나 내 사랑과 나는 만났습니다.
그녀는 눈처럼 흰 귀여운 발로 버드나무 동산을 건넜지요.
그녀는 내게 나무에서 나뭇잎이 자라듯 느긋하게 사랑하라 했지만
그때 나는 젊고 어리석었던 까닭에 그 말을 곧이 듣지 않았습니다.

시냇가 어느 들녘에서 내 사랑과 나는 서 있었어요.
기울어진 어깨 위에 그녀는 눈처럼 흰 손을 얹었습니다.
그녀는 내게 언덕 위에 풀들이 자라듯 인생을 여유롭게 살라 했지만
